Latest appearance WarioWare Gold (cameo) (2018)

Sal Out is a minor recurring character in the WarioWare series. She is a singer popular in Diamond City. Beyond that, not much else is known about her. Her name is a play on the term "sellout," which is a pejorative term for an artist who sacrifices integrity in order to appeal to a wider audience.

History[edit]

WarioWare series[edit]

WarioWare: Twisted![edit]

Sal Out
Sal Out singing Mona Pizza

During her first appearance, Sal Out sings the song for the Mona Pizza commercial, accompanied by Joe's comments. The Dinosaurs from the rival company Pizza Dinosaur sing the latter portion of the song. Sal Out also briefly appears in Mona's story on a large screen near a street that Mona drives on. Additionally, the customers that wait for Mona to deliver the pizzas watch Sal Out on their television.

Sal Out is also seen between the microgames in Mona's stage, and cheers each time a microgame is won; if a microgame is lost, she falls on her face and the song distorts a little. The whole song plays on loop during the stage, with the only interruptions coming during the boss stage "Skyway Highway" and the proximate Souvenir scene.

The Mona Pizza commercial song can be obtained as a souvenir, with Mona's face printed on the record's cover.

WarioWare: Touched![edit]

In WarioWare: Touched!, Sal Out reaches #5 on Diamond City's music charts, according to the television show Ear Candy. The intro of Mike's Song can be heard during the show in Mona's story, implying that Sal Out sang it; the whole song is played as the background music in the first segment of Mike's story.

Like in the previous game, a Mona Pizza souvenir with the Mona Pizza song can be unlocked by playing the game with WarioWare: Twisted! in the Game Boy Advance slot of the Nintendo DS. A video was added to the song, where Sal Out makes occasional appearances.

Game & Wario[edit]

Sal Out makes a brief appearance in the opening cinematic of Game & Wario along with her three background singers, the Chorus Kids from the Rhythm Heaven series. She can also be seen in Mona's apartment during the beginning of Stage 1 and 3 in Shutter.

WarioWare Gold[edit]

In WarioWare Gold, Sal Out makes a cameo appearance on the cover of the Mona Pizza record. Additionally, during Penny's opening cutscene, when she talks about wanting to be a pop star, a thought bubble showing Penny wearing an outfit resembling Sal Out's can be seen briefly.

Sal Out makes a cameo appearance in the Wario... Where? challenge set of Rhythm Heaven Megamix. She appears at the end of Super Samurai Slice, replacing the princess normally seen at the end of the minigame.

Physical appearance[edit]

Originally, Sal Out had orange hair with straight bangs tied up in a ponytail. She wore a sleeveless pink dress with a white collar and light pink scarf. Her dress had a red heart design, and she wore matching red bracelets, boots, and headphones with white star designs. She also wore light blush.

In Game & Wario onwards, her hair now has a yellow tint. She wears a new rose pink dress with matching gloves and boots. Her dress has short puffy sleeves, a magenta heart design and matching long neck ribbon, and a white collar. Her headphones are magenta while retaining the star designs, and her blush is rose-colored.
